A Pregnant Nurse has been infected with Coronavirus at the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua.
The Nurse who is a Ward In-Charge tested positive while on admissions for days at the Maternity ward over ill health.
It is not clear if she contracted the disease in line of duty.
Mybrytfmonline.com has gathered the case has created apprehension among some midwives at the Maternity Ward but the management of the facility seems to rule out fact that the health workers who had contact with the patient were exposed hence did not quarantine nor samples were taken for testing.
The Eastern Regional Hospital refused to ease working hours for pregnant women and lactating mothers particularly those at the Gynaecology and Maternity ward endangering lives mothers and that of both born and unborn babies.
Calls and text messages for a reaction from management and Municipal health Directorate were unsuccessful.
Already 248 health workers in the Eastern Region have tested positive out of which one has died.
The numbers represent 37% of total cases of 668 recorded in the Eastern Region as of June 29, 2020.
A health worker is however among nine casualties recorded among confirmed cases in the region.
