President Nana Akufo-Addo has been chosen as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Sharing the data in a post on Facebook, the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin said the President was chosen at the continuous 57th ECOWAS Summit, which is being held in Niamey, which is the capital of Niger.
President Akufo-Addo will take over from the Niger President, Mahamadou Issoufou who was chosen on June 29, 2019.
His political decision makes him the 35th President to seat ECOWAS since its commencement in 1975.
He would include a year’s command inside which he would run the undertakings of the Regional body.
ECOWAS is a provincial political and financial association of fifteen nations situated in West Africa.
All in all, the nations involve a region of 5,114,162 km2 and in 2015 had an expected populace of more than 349 million.
