FrimpongPolice in River State has rescued a two-week-old baby after he was sold for N1.3 million(approximately GHC20,000) by a woman identified as his grandmother.
The woman identified as Antonio Amos by police, sold the child because his father has not settled her daughter’s bride price.
The woman was arrested after the father of the child, Christian Duru, reported the case to the police.
Joseph Mukan, the commissioner of police in the state, said the police was led to Ukanafun LGA in Akwa Ibom state by Antonio where one Pauline Umoh was arrested.
The grandmother also led police to arrest one Juliana Obiana in Mgbidi in Imo state, who is alleged to be the buyer.
According to the police commissioner, police are still working to arrest others who had a hand in the crime.
