Disqualified 2020 Presidential aspirant of the United Front Party (UFP) Nana Agyenim Boateng known popularly as Gyataba has described Madam Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) as an “illiterate” not qualified enough to perfectly fill her forms but has been passed when he who is more educated and qualified was booted out
“Imagine Akua Donkor who cannot even read and write her own name, you (EC) qualify her against me. If they would be sincere to themselves they have a verification team. When you send your documents after filing they will verify it if there is a problem they will tell you”, Mr. Agyenim Boateng chided on GBC monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
Mr. Agyenim Boateng’s comment of Akua Donkor was in reaction to the Electoral Commission’s decision to disqualify him and four others from contesting the presidential in the December 2020 elections.
According to him, all other minor political parties that were cleared by the EC to contest in the upcoming election are individuals including Madam Akua Donkor who are being sponsored by President Nana Addo.
He also accused the EC of not contacting him to make corrections after finding some minor errors in his document as it did for other candidates which is why he suspects a deliberate sabotage.
The Electoral Commission (EC) at press briefing on Monday disqualified five (5) persons from taking part in the 2020 Presidential elections indicating that they failed to meet the outlined requirements.
Among them are; Akwasi Addai Odike of the UPP, Independent aspirant Marrick Kofi Gane, Kwesi Busumuru of the Popular Action Party, Kofi Koranteng and Agyenim Boateng.
Meanwhile, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the NPP, John Dramani Mahama of NDC, Akua Donkor, Bridgette Dzobegnuku, Christian Kwabena Andrew, Alfred walker, Nana Konadu Agyeman, Hassan Ayariga, Ivor Greenstreet and Henry Lartey have all been cleared to contest.
According to the EC, after going through the document of Nana Agyenim Boateng, three persons denied endorsing his candidature.
But Agyenim Boateng who was speaking on GBC, accused the President of being the engine behind his disqualification because he “Gyataba” will pull more votes in the Ashanti Region which will disturb the NPP’s victory.
