A 27-year-old man Ebenezer Antwi has been arrested by the Assin Awisem Police Command for assaulting and killing his two-year-old stepdaughter, Victoria Twumasi.
According to reports, the girl eased on herself during a Health Insurance Registration Exercise in Assin Awisem, following which the suspect who was burning with anger assaulted and threw the little girl in the air and rendered her limping after she crash-landed on the ground.
Ebenezer Antwi is said to have later poisoned the little girl with weedicide, buried her in a bush, and went into hiding.
The Assemblymember for Assin Awisem-Obraye-oko Electoral area, Hon. Ayuba Andoh told Kasapa News Yaw Bagyan that Police intelligence led to the arrest of the suspect at his hiding place in a nearby village where he confessed to killing the deceased by giving her weedicide (gramoxone) and buried the body under a cocoa tree.
Police conducted a search and found the body of the girl and subsequently deposited at the Twifu Praso government hospital for preservation and autopsy.
