A founding member of the New Patriotic Party, Kwame Pianim has claimed that the New Patriotic Party will loose the 2024 elections even if they present Former President John Agyakum Kuffour as a Flagbearer. He made this claim on TV3’s current affairs Programme, THE KEY POINTS today, Saturday 10th April, 2021.
The senior citizen’s claim is based on the fact that, we have just elected a President and he should be supported to deliver on the promises made to Ghanaians.
He said, “whoever is chosen as the Flagbearer will depend on President Akufo-Addo’s success in order to win power in 2024. If Nana Akuffo fails, we cannot win the election even if we bring Former President John Agyakum Kuffour”.
” How can the subjects of a newly enstooled chief be thinking about who his successor should be after a few days into his (Chief’s) reign”.
Mr Kwame Pianim further stated that the New Patriotic Party was formed with an ideology of serving the good people of Ghana not just selected Presidential Candidates every now then.
He further revealed that, it is mischievous for the media to be articulating and accommodating New Patriotic Party Flagbearership rumours when President Akufo-Addo is still forming his government.
He then stated that, some people want President Akufo-Addo to fail and that can be only achieved by creating divisions with Flagbearership rumours just months into his second term.
Mr kwame Pianim took a swipe the press for duelling on Presidential ambitions of individuals rather than focusing on national issues and ways of solving our problems as a country.
