The trial of suspects in the killing of late Abuakwa North MP, JB Danquah Adu suffered yet another delay today, Tuesday, May 4, 2021, when a juror failed to show up to the hearing.
Justice Lydia Osei Marfo convened the Court at 10:00 am but was forced to adjourn the case due to the unavailability of one of the seven jurors.
The State, led by Principal State Attorney, Sefakor Batse, was expected to call its second witness in the matter today, but this had to be adjourned to May 6 at 9.30 am due to the absence of the said juror.
The Jury Foreman had told the court that the said juror was held up in another trial in Criminal Court 3 and for over an hour, the court was constricted by the absence of the juror.
Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, visibly unhappy with the development, threatened the jury that; “If it happens again I will dissolve you!”
But the Jury Foreman apologized and promised that the unfortunate incident will not repeat itself.
Daniel Asiedu and Vincent Bosso have been charged with murder and abetment for the murder of the late MP.
Asiedu had earlier said that he went to the MP’s house to steal but ended up killing him in self-defense.
He subsequently withdrew these claims and stated that he had gone with the intention of killing the legislator.
The late J.B. Danquah-Adu was stabbed to death on February 9, 2016, at his Shiashie residence in Accra.
Daniel Asiedu, who was the prime suspect, was arrested two days after the incident.
