The Former Member of Parliament for the Ledzokuku Constituency, Bernard Okoe Boye, has revealed that in the next 10 to 15 years if we are not careful with how we are dealing with galamsey, all of us will be on dialysis.
Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye made this revelation on ‘Good Morning Ghana’ on Metro television this morning, 20th May 2021, when he gave the health complications associated with the use of mercury in galamsey operations on us.
According to him, every Ghanaian should be concerned and help fight against galamsey because we don’t know which part of the country our foods are coming from and whether the mercury was in the soil where it was grown.
“In the next 10 to 15 years, if we are not caret, all of us will be on dialysis because heavy metals are the surest way to get kidney disease.
I know there are a lot of folks who don’t drink from the tap, but the food they buy from the restaurant are made with tap water.” – he said
bathing with mercury-contaminated tap water can have health implications so, everybody should take this campaign very seriously.
