Kwame A Plus shared a video from UTV on his page. The content of the video was a really disturbing one. In the video, an ex-convict at the Nsawam prison made some fresh but serious allegations which required investigation.
According to the man, he was convicted for narcotics related issue in June 4, 20111. He was first arrested and confined in the Kumasi Central Station but later transferred to the Nsawam Prison. From his narration, his experience at the prison contrasted with his earlier “reformation” prison perception. According to him, all those who are convicted bring back worse attitudes upon their release or discharge.
He made mention of some of the bad practices that occurred there; MTN mobile money fraud, acting as a mallam, 419 and many other more. He made a shocking revelation that deserves national attention. According to him, homosexuality particularly amongst the men(gay), is a common practice over there. He cited the situation where old prisoners lure new or fresh prisoners into the act.
Also, he stated that he used to sell weed and cigarette for the prison wardens. He claimed that the officers give him these drugs so that he will sell it for them at 30 Cedis per packet. He also stated that the officers sell phones for the prisoners. He named Officer Poetry and Officer Schandolf.
