A section of the Ghanaian public has called on President Akufo-Addo to axe the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh.
They argue that he is old and no longer fit for the job.
Joining the call is a communicator of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Richard Manuribe.
He says the IGP has passed the retirement age, looks exhausted and must go for a new person to take over.
Richard Manuribe said the President [Akufo-Addo], for political expediency, has kept the current IGP so he could use him for his bidding.
He wants the president to remove him to prove his critics wrong.
”The man has retired, and yet you extended his time all because of political expediency. He is 64 years and so what is he doing there as an IGP? He must go for fresh blood to take over. The President must remove him to help strengthen the Police Service.”
