The Minority spokesperson on Foreign Affairs has expressed disappointment in the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta for asking for more time to enable him to prepare to brief the House on the exact amount spent on the President’s foreign trip to France, Belgium, and South Africa on the G-Kelt aircraft.
The legislator described the situation as unfortunate.
The Finance Minister was expected to have briefed the House yesterday, Thursday, June 17, 2021, on the exact amount spent on the President’s foreign trip to France, Belgium, and South Africa on the G-Kelt aircraft.
But he requested more time to prepare.
However, Mr. Ablakwa who is the MP for North Tongu is not happy.
In a Facebook post, he wrote: “Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is asking Parliament for more time to respond to my urgent question on the full cost of President Akufo-Addo’s recent luxury travels to France, Belgium and South Africa.”
He also described Mr. Ofori-Atta’s absence as disappointing and a sad day for accountability and good governance.
The Defence Minister a few days ago justified reasons why the President hired a private jet which the Minority says cost £15,000.
He said the safety as security of the President was paramount.
