Legal luminary Tsatsu Tsikata has described as “a serious allegation” the calling of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the “mother serpent of corruption”.
Former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu described President Akufo-Addo as such after accusing him of interfering with his work.
It was contained in his resignation letter, complaining about the determined effort by the president to block him from investigating his Finance Minister and cousin Ken Ofori-Atta in the botched Agyapa deal.
The former Attorney General said Mr Akufo-Addo took office looking “like an innocent flower of anti-corruption but being the mother serpent of corruption under it”.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Media General‘s Alfred Ocansey, Mr Tsikata said the manner in which the appointment of Mr Amidu ended up tells a lot about the commitment shown in the fight against corruption under this government.
