Sanitation and Water Resources Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah has revealed that government spent an amount of GHC 896,291,330.72 on the nationwide free water supply announced by President Akufo-Addo as part of efforts to support Ghanaians during the peak of the pandemic.
According to her, the free water supply was for a period of 15 months.
Addressing the media at Information Ministry in Accra, Mrs. Abena Dapaah disclosed that the Ministry of Finance has paid more than GHC500m to the Ghana Water Company Limited as part of debt settlements for the free water package.
Abena Dapaah assured that all arrears will be paid fully as and when instructed and directed by the President.
Mrs Cecilia Abena Dapaah further applauded President Akuffo Addo for providing free water to citizens, saying he is the first President in the world to have taken such initiative
She also urged citizens to continue supporting the agenda of President Akuffo Addo to making Ghana, a clean country.
