FrimpongA total of a hundred and ninety-nine (199) more contacts have been traced from the six (6) confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, bringing the total to 350.
This was disclosed by the Disease Surveillance Department of the Ghana Health Service on their Twitter handle, Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
According to the Health service, follow up for these contacts have been initiated in a bid to contain the spread of the disease.
“A total of six cases have been confirmed so far with no local transmission. 350 contacts have been identified for these cases. Follow up for these contacts have commenced.”

Ghana on Sunday, March 15, 2020, announced the confirmation of a total of 6 ‘imported’ cases of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Few hours after the disclosure, President Akufo-Addo announced some extreme measures including the shutting down of all schools in the country and the cancellation of all public gatherings.
Many Ghanaians have hailed the action by President Akufo-Addo but are calling for stricter travel restrictions at the country’s entry points.
Ahead of the enforcement of the Government’s travel ban today which sees to it that no person coming from countries with more than 200 coronavirus cases, the Information Minister has disclosed that two Italians have been stopped from entering the country.
