Business magnate and member of parliament for Assin central in the central region Mr Kennedy Agyapong has released another bombshell. The mavericks politician is noted by all Ghanaians about his vocal nature and how he claims to have information about almost all high profile personalities in Ghana.
Mr Kennedy Agyapong has sent a strong message to journalists of Joyfm one of the most credible media houses which has undoubtedly produced most of the high profile journalists that Ghana can ever boast of.
According to Mr Kennedy Agyapong, the boss of Joyfm who happens to be his brother in-law has told him that, journalists of Joyfm have planned to sabotage the Nana Addo led administration because they believe the government has neglected them.
He said the owner of Joyfm came personally to his office and made those claims. He said the journalists of Joyfm have to be careful about their false reportage about the Nana Addo led administration because all their plans have been exposed by their boss.
He has then dared them to ask their boss about this issue if they think he is lying and he will prove to them he being truthful.
He further went ahead and said he has even met journalists of Joyfm in the residence of Gabby Ochere Darko sometime back. He then asked asked them to tell him what was the agenda of the meeting they had in Gabby’s residence.
In my opinion as a writer,I think it is high time journalist are allowed to be judged by the general public but not politicians. This is simply because when a journalist tries to be neutral, the governments in power usually see them as sabotaging them and the those in opposition hails such individuals for a good job done.
The nation is battling with issues of press freedom and culture of silence so this is not the right time Mr Kennedy Agyapong to be issuing warning to media houses about their mandate as fourth estate of the realm.
One cannot deny the role journalists play in our national development and if politicians begin to act as stambling blocks in the course of their work becomes problematic
The member of parliament also made serious allegations against the journalists of Joyfm of meeting them in the residence of Mr Gabby Ochere Darko and certainly this allegation has to be taken up by national media commission.
