A former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister Hon Joseph Yammin and some media men were chased by snakes at an abandoned Community Day School at Kwabenakwa Krom in the Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Joseph Yammin and a legal team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Lawyer Evans Amankwaa had gone to the place in the company of the media to inspect some abandoned Community Day SHSs in the Ashanti Region including Fumso, Kwabenakwa Krom and others.
The roofed structure popularly called ‘E-Block’ in the area has however been abandoned by the contractors, overgrown by weeds while snakes and reptiles have taken over the place.
Speaking in an interview with Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo, the former deputy Ashanti Regional Minister Joseph Yammin chastised President Akufo-Addo’s government for abandoning projects initiated by former President John Dramani Mahama administration.
According to Joseph Yammin, “I organized some NDC executives and party members in Obuasi to weed the abandoned Kwabenakwa Community Day School some months ago thinking that government will allow the contractor to complete the project. During our visit, we were chased away by dangerous snakes for which reason we never got the opportunity to tour the whole place”
“President Akufo-Addo’s government is unwilling to complete the projects initiated by former President John Dramani Mahama administration especially Community Day School because they lied to Ghanaians that John Dramani Mahama projects were photoshop” Yammin explained.
The legal team member of NDC Lawyer Evans Amankwaa also expressed worry about the development as some Community Day Schools have been left to rot by President Akufo-Addo’s government.
According to him “Even the community day Schools abandoned in a bush are far better than some school infrastructures in the country which are functioning”.
