The Parc des Princes will be Leo Messi’s new home. PSG announced it with great enthusiasm: it is the bombshell of the summer.
And in this new challenge Messi will be accompanied by another number that, until now, was his usual one. He has left behind the number ’10’ and returned to another number that he already wore at Barcelona: ’30’. In fact, he played with it in his first two seasons as a Barcelona player.
Until now, that number had belonged to Alexandre Letellier at PSG. The goalkeeper has not made his debut in official competition with the Parisian team.
‘AS’ explains that, although that number is reserved for goalkeepers in France, Ligue 1 authorised Leo Messi to wear it without any problem. And that will be the number he will wear on his back.
When he landed in France, the ’10’ already had an owner: his friend Neymar. According to ‘Téléfoot’, the Brazilian offered it to the Argentine, but he declined. ‘L’Équipe’ now adds that Messi considered two options: the ’19’ and the ’30’. In the end, he kept the second.
Before, other players like Bulka, Trapp or Weah were also owners of that ’30’. A number that will not be one more at PSG.
