A young man identified as Frederick Asamoah Frimpong of KNUST reportedly committed suicide by hanging.
The incident happened in the house of the student at Adoato in Bantama in the Asanti Region.
According to reports, Frederick visited home a week after the UTAG strike and committed suicide whilst in his parents’ house.
Speaking in an interview on Pure FM, the deceased uncle known as Osei Kwadwo revealed that they found him hanging in his room.
He disclosed that they knocked on his door several times, called his phone but he didn’t respond. They eventually called a carpenter to break into his room where they discovered him hanging on the ceiling.
Currently, a report going round on social media indicates that Frederick owned GHC 200,000 but he had only GHC 60,000 cash available.
The report says he staked a bet with the GHC 60, 000 hoping to win and cash big in order to pay his bet but he lost. Being unable to deal with the pain, he, therefore, said his final prayers and took his own life.
His lifeless body has reportedly been taken to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
