A building contractor, Clement Annan, also known as Ebo, has been remanded into police custody by Dansoman Circuit Court following allegations that he threatened to kill a real estate developer and his family.
Presided over by Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit, the court ruled against granting bail to the accused, citing Section 96(5)(b) of Act 30.The court ordered that the accused remain in custody while investigations are expedited and concluded before the next adjourned date, scheduled for July 9, 2025.Annan pleaded not guilty to the charge of threat of death, contrary to Section 75 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Allegations
According to the prosecution, led by Chief Kwadwo Abongye, the complainant, Kingsley Owusu-Achaw, an estate developer residing at Dzorwulu, alleged that the accused unlawfully occupied one of his properties at East Legon after promising to purchase it more than seven years ago.
Despite failing to complete the purchase, Annan allegedly moved into the property without the complainant’s consent.
In 2023, the situation escalated when Annan is said to have issued a chilling threat: “If you dare move me from the house, I will kill you and your family and send you to a place you don’t like.”
The complainant, fearing for his life, reported the matter to the police. Attempts to apprehend the accused were unsuccessful until June 30, 2025, when he was arrested by the National Operations Directorate of the Ghana Police Service at a hideout.
During police interrogation, the accused reportedly admitted to making the threats in the presence of an independent witness.
The matter is still under active investigation by the Accra Regional Criminal Investigations Department.
The case has been adjourned to July 9, 2025, as police continue their investigations. The accused remains in custody.
