Abronye alleges a deputy attorney general asked former NSB boss Adu Boahen to surrender property for a plea deal.

Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, has made a serious allegation against a Deputy Attorney General, claiming that the official demanded a property from former National Signals Bureau (NSB) boss Kwabena Adu Boahen as part of a plea bargaining agreement.

According to Abronye, the deputy attorney general contacted Mr. Adu Boahen and requested that he submit one of his properties to secure leniency in his ongoing case.

“The Deputy Attorney General called the former National Signals Bureau boss, Kwabena Adu Boahene, to submit one of his properties to be used in a plea bargaining agreement,” Abronye alleged. He added that after Mr. Adu Boahen refused, the deputy attorney general allegedly warned that he knew how to handle the case to ensure Boahen ended up in prison.

Mr. Adu Boahen, a former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, is currently facing legal proceedings following corruption allegations that emerged from an investigative exposé by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in 2022.

The documentary, dubbed “Galamsey Economy,” captured him allegedly accepting money from undercover investigators posing as businessmen, leading to his dismissal by the President.

Abronye’s claim adds a new dimension to the ongoing controversy surrounding the case and has sparked fresh debate about the transparency of plea bargaining processes within the Attorney General’s Department. However, the ministry is yet to respond to the latest allegation.
