A video circulating on social media shows a distraught woman at Ahafo Nkaseim in the Ahafo Region lamenting after an anti-galamsey task force raided and destroyed their illegal mining settlement.
In the footage, the woman expresses frustration and despair, accusing the government of depriving them of every means of survival.
“You won’t allow us to do ashàwo, you won’t allow us to steal, and even when we work to feed our children, you still won’t allow us. What should we do?” she cried out.
Her remarks highlight the growing tension between illegal miners and security forces as the government intensifies its crackdown on galamsey operations across the country.
Many residents in affected communities say the raids have left them without jobs or shelter, calling for alternative livelihood support.
The video has sparked widespread reactions online, with some sympathizing with the victims while others backing the government’s firm stance against illegal mining.
