Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), and Member of Parliament (MP) for Adenta Yaw Buaben Asamoa has stated on Adom TV/ Asempa Fm that the victory of Akufo-Addo and NPP in 2020 was not based on the compilation of a new register but via achievements and track record
“We are waiting for the Electoral Commission (EC) to tell Ghanaians their intention on the way forward with the compilation of the New Voters Register, we will go with what the EC will say, our victory is not in the new voters register but on the records of achievements of President Akufo-Addo,” he said.
He noted that when the NPP pointed out the inconsistencies in the 2012 register and called for it to be checked, they didn’t listen. We spoke about it but they had their way and in 2016 we won through vigilance .
In 2016 the register didn’t win the elections for the NPP, we were vigilant at the polls.
“We didn’t believe in the voters register in 2016 but we didn’t threaten the EC with war like the
NDC is seeking to do,” Buaben Asamoah Said.
