A patient being transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) suffered further distress when the ambulance conveying them became stuck on the deteriorated Abuakwa–Mankranso road in the Ashanti Region.
According to eyewitness accounts, the ambulance got trapped at the edge of the road, making it impossible for the medical team to continue the journey. The situation caused panic among bystanders and health officials on board.
Health workers, with the assistance of residents, were eventually forced to remove the patient from the ambulance to enable the vehicle’s retrieval from the muddy roadside.
The incident has reignited public concern about the deplorable state of roads in the region, especially those connecting critical healthcare facilities, which continue to endanger lives and delay emergency response.
