AdubianewsAsantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has expressed deep sympathy to President John Mahama following the August 8 helicopter crash at Adansi Brofoyeduru that killed two cabinet ministers and six others on a national assignment to Obuasi.
Defense Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Alhaji Mutala Mohammed were among those who died in the crash, which occurred as the military aircraft travelled from Accra to Obuasi. The victims were described as having died in the line of duty.
Speaking at the Manhyia Palace after being formally briefed by the Adansehene, Opagyakotwere Bonsrah Afriyie II, the Asantehene called the tragedy “a national concern” and extended solidarity to the grieving families and the government.
“This is a national concern, and I sympathize with the President in this difficult moment,” he said. “The loss affects the whole country.”
The Asantehene urged unity and compassion in navigating this period of mourning, noting that Environment Minister Mutala Mohammed and Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Limuna have already been laid to rest.
