AdubianewsNational Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia has pledged that an NDC government will put an end to politically motivated recruitment into Ghana’s security services.
Addressing party members in the Akatsi North constituency on Thursday, October 16, 2025, as part of his thank-you tour, Mr. Nketia said the party will introduce a transparent and merit-based recruitment system to replace the current politically influenced one.
According to him, the next NDC administration will ensure that entry into the security services is determined strictly by competence and qualification rather than political ties or family names. “We will make sure that our security services are properly balanced, even regionally,” he emphasized. “We are departing from a system where people are recruited based on their surnames to ensure that the services are truly representative and professional.”
He noted that the proposed policy will help restore professionalism, fairness, and balance within Ghana’s security institutions.
Mr. Nketia added that the NDC’s ultimate aim is to build a credible and transparent security recruitment framework that mirrors Ghana’s diversity and promotes unity across regions.
He stressed that a reformed, merit-driven security structure would boost public confidence and ensure that the country’s armed and protective forces remain loyal to the state, not political parties.
