AdubianewsResidents of Asikantia and 15 neighboring communities in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region have been connected to the national electricity grid for the first time. The historic development sparked widespread excitement and celebration across the affected areas.
The electrification project, which was led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Abubakari Sedick, represents a key milestone in the government’s efforts to expand infrastructure and bridge the development gap in rural Ghana. The initiative is expected to enhance the quality of life in these communities by improving access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
For decades, these communities relied on alternative energy sources such as kerosene lamps and generators. The connection to the national grid now opens the door to safer lighting, better communication, and increased productivity for small businesses and households.
The district authorities view the successful implementation of this project as a step toward broader rural development goals. Additional communities in the district are expected to benefit from similar electrification projects in the near future.
