Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, popularly known as Benghazi and a member of the NPP Communications Team, has issued a stern caution to the opposition NDC regarding their persistent criticism of the National Cathedral project. He claims a spiritual leader warned of divine consequences if the attacks continue, especially targeting senior figures within the party.
According to Benghazi, there has been no evidence of embezzlement associated with the project. He argued that criticisms from the NDC are not only unfounded but may provoke spiritual repercussions against its leadership.
He further noted that respected clergy involved in the project have come under public ridicule from NDC officials, despite investigations showing that none of them were bribed or misused public funds. Benghazi believes this targeted humiliation of religious leaders is unjustified and could attract divine retribution.
The National Cathedral project has been one of the most debated government initiatives in recent years, with the opposition raising issues of accountability, priority, and transparency.
While critics question the use of public resources, NPP communicators like Benghazi continue to defend the project, describing it as a sacred national legacy and warning of consequences for those opposing it without cause.

“A man of God told me this morning that if the NDC is not careful about the issues concerning the National Cathedral project, God will deal with some of their elders, and they will start dying one after the other.”
