Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has opened up about his mindset towards success, admitting that despite his global achievements, he still feels like his true journey in music hasn’t even begun.
In an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz Show with Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie, the Kweku The Traveller hitmaker described himself as a “nerd about music,” emphasizing that his passion lies in the creative process rather than public applause.
“Sometimes I don’t feel like I have started yet. I am a nerd about music; it’s not about the applause,” — Black Sherif
He explained that his motivation comes from creating timeless music that connects with people on a deeper level. The applause, he noted, only matters when listeners truly understand and appreciate the meaning behind his art.
According to him, that emotional connection with his audience is what keeps him inspired to return to the studio and make more impactful music.
Black Sherif continues to position himself as one of Ghana’s most authentic voices, blending soul, storytelling, and real-life experiences into his sound.
