Director-General of the Ghana AIDS Commission, Kyeremeh Atuahene, has said the novel coronavirus is more dangerous than HIV/AIDS.
Mr. Kyeremeh in his explanation said, while patients of AIDS can live for many years with medication and a healthy lifestyle, COVID-19 does not offer such an opportunity to victims with weak immune systems.
HIV AIDS has been around for over 40 years and people still live it with. Those who stick with the drugs stay for a very long time. It is not the same as COVID 19. COVID-19 is more dangerous than HIV AIDS,” he said in an interview on Starr FM
He added that, the spread of coronavirus is likely to increase if people continue to stigmatise victims.
“If you stigmatise them, they will hide their status and spread it because nobody wants to be rejected by society. If we do not support them, we are putting everybody’s life at risk,” he warned.
