AdubianewsThe family and management of highlife legend Daddy Lumba have announced a new venue for his one-week observance, now set to take place at Black Star Square (Independence Square) in Accra on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The location also hosted a candlelight vigil in his honour weeks earlier.
Initially, the memorial was scheduled for the University of Ghana Stadium. However, the La State Council issued a reminder that noise-making in the La Traditional Area is strictly banned from Monday, August 11 to September 5, 2025. Since the stadium falls within that jurisdiction, the council urged organizers to either postpone or relocate the event.
At a press conference in Accra, representatives of the council explained that the directive was in line with cultural and traditional practices in the area. To avoid disrupting the schedule, Daddy Lumba’s family and management chose relocation instead of postponement.
In their public statement, the team reassured fans that the event date remains unchanged despite the new venue. They also expressed appreciation to the public for their patience and cooperation.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause and appreciate your understanding,” the statement read.
The one-week observance is expected to draw thousands of fans, industry colleagues, and dignitaries as Ghana pays tribute to one of its most celebrated musical icons.
