Ernestina Fosu, sister of Daddy Lumba, speaks after court ruling on funeral injunction

Madam Ernestina Fosu, elder sister of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has revealed that she is not ready for the upcoming funeral scheduled for December 6, 2025, despite the Kumasi High Court dismissing an injunction filed to stop the ceremony.

Madam Fosu, together with Madam Akosua Serwaa, the musician’s first wife, had sought a court order to prevent the family from going ahead with the final funeral rites.

However, the court on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, ruled against their application, clearing the way for the event to proceed as planned.

Speaking to journalists outside the court premises, Ernestina Fosu said that although she respects the court’s decision, she remains emotionally and psychologically unprepared for the funeral arrangements.

She expressed disappointment that the family had not reached a mutual understanding before fixing the date, adding that she hopes the differences within the family can be peacefully resolved ahead of the ceremony.

The late Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away earlier this year after a long battle with illness. His death marked the end of an era in Ghana’s highlife music, with tributes pouring in from across the country and beyond.

The planned funeral on December 6, 2025, is expected to draw thousands of fans, fellow musicians, and dignitaries who wish to celebrate his life, legacy, and immense contribution to Ghana’s music industry.
