Since leadership is still insisting on imposing the increment of the GNAT cancer fund on the classroom teacher, I suggest the 3.00 be taken away from the monthly dues we pay to be added to the existing 2.00 to make it a complete 5.00 to ease the burden of deducting directly from the classroom teacher.
It will also be prudent should leadership come out to tell all teacher the cost of treating the additional sicknesses added to the cancer which is seeking the increment in the fund. If the 2.00 is inadequate to treat only the cancer then I wonder if the 3.00 increment can cater for the sicknesses they are claiming to be added which are far expensive to treat than cancer.
The union leaders must rather fight for increment in the salaries of the classroom teachers and also tackle the non promotion issues of the classroom teachers rather than thinking of deducting another money from the teachers’ monthly salary.
There are no text books and other approved teaching and learning materials and desks for students to sit on comfortably to learn in our various classrooms across the country, I expect our Union leaders to rather put pressure on the government to provide those necessary items for the teachers and the learners since education is the engine of this country.
I humbly call on all teachers to come on board let’s put this agenda of increasing the fund from our meager monthly Salary to a halt.
Thank you
