Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Adutwum has said it will be of great joy to the government to see parents pay fees despite the FREE SHS policy.
According to him, government will not stop anyone who is ready to pay for tuition despite the roll out of the Free Senior High School policy.
Speaking on Starr news, Dr Yaw Adutwium said parents who are kind enough should see headmasters of their wards’ schools and pay their fees to them.
“If you want to pay fees for your child enjoying free SHS, you go to the school and give money to the headmaster. We’ll applaud you for that.”
“The kids being asked to go back home was a mistake by GES. The team has done well but there can be missteps and they apologized. I can tell parents that their children’s education is in good hands,”
he said.
The FREE SHS policy was the flagship campaign promise of the NPP and President Akufo-Addo which to a large extent secured his victory.
Meanwhile, upon the implementation of the policy in 2017, many schools have complained about the delay in the release of funds which has affected internal running of affairs drastically.
