Walewale MP and Finance Committee member Dr. Mahama Tiah Abdul-Kabiru has criticized the recently released military helicopter crash report, arguing that it fails to address critical questions about the pilots’ psychological state and the true cause of the incident.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, November 15, Dr. Abdul-Kabiru said the report does little to help the public understand what truly happened in the moments leading up to the crash.

“Unfortunately, the report hasn’t helped much, because we know that when a helicopter is going to crash… what was the psychological framework of the pilots at the time?” he asked.

The MP added that the report is heavy with technical language that does not address ordinary Ghanaians’ concerns. He noted that even explanations such as a sudden loss of altitude fail to clarify whether mechanical failure or human error was to blame. Dr. Abdul-Kabiru also questioned the lack of details regarding cockpit communications, which could have included sensitive information.

He further criticized the report for omitting references to the aircraft’s black box, which he understands was retrieved. “Nothing in the report has referred to what was contained,” he said.

Calling for a more transparent and comprehensive explanation, the MP stressed that both the victims’ families and the public deserve clear answers rather than vague technical summaries.
