The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has announced a rerun of the Parliamentary Election in 19 polling stations within the Ablekuma North Constituency.
The decision follows a dispute over the credibility of election results from the December 2024 polls.
According to the EC, the rerun scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025, aims to resolve issues raised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) concerning the authenticity of the original results.
The NDC challenged the legitimacy of Pink Sheets used during the initial collation process, alleging that the Electoral Commission relied on scanned copies submitted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), rather than official EC-issued documents.
In a brief statement, the EC explained that the rerun is intended to “uphold electoral transparency and public confidence in the democratic process.”
The Commission has assured all stakeholders of a fair, transparent, and peaceful rerun.
Political parties, security agencies, and election observers are expected to be fully involved in the process to ensure credibility.
The rerun outcome could have implications for the final parliamentary composition, as Ablekuma North remains a key constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
