Edem Agbana, the member of parliament representing Ketu North, has thrown his full support behind Ghana’s 24-hour economy initiative, describing it as a bold policy move that could unlock vast economic potential, reduce unemployment, and reshape productivity patterns across the country.

In an interview with Metro TV on Thursday, July 3, Agbana hailed the policy, launched just a day prior, as a strategy that enables businesses to operate beyond traditional working hours. He believes key sectors like agriculture, retail, manufacturing, and transport could see massive gains by adopting round-the-clock operations.

Agbana also emphasized the policy’s human capital component, stating that Ghanaian youth must be equipped with digital and vocational skills to thrive in this new economic model. He highlighted the relevance of ongoing programmes like One Million Coders and TVET training, which are designed to prepare workers for shifts that extend into evenings and nights.

He further called on both government and private stakeholders to provide the infrastructure, energy stability, and regulatory support needed for successful implementation. As global interest in Africa’s emerging markets grows, Agbana believes this is Ghana’s chance to take the lead and drive sustainable, inclusive growth.
