AdubianewsThe European Union (EU), in partnership with the German Embassy in Accra, to officially launch the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Regional Office in Ghana, one of only two in sub-Saharan Africa. This initiative underscores Germany and the EU’s commitment to education, youth empowerment, and strategic partnerships in West Africa.
Announced via the EU Embassy’s Instagram on May 17, 2025, the office supports the EU’s #GlobalGateway strategy, specifically the Youth Mobility for Africa initiative. This program aims to enhance academic mobility within Africa and between Africa and Europe, offering young Africans access to quality education, exchange programs, and professional development.
The DAAD office will serve as a hub for educational cooperation, facilitating scholarships, academic exchanges, and partnerships between African and European universities. It will also provide resources for students and researchers pursuing studies or collaborative projects in Germany and beyond.
An EU representative emphasized the initiative’s goal of creating sustainable educational opportunities for African youth, fostering academic ties, and empowering future global leaders. The establishment of this office in Ghana highlights the country’s growing role as an academic and diplomatic center in the region, enhancing cooperation between Africa and Europe.
