The family of the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has asked for privacy as they mourn, saying burial details will be announced by the President later.

The family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has appealed to the public and media for privacy as they mourn her passing, which occurred on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Addressing journalists at a brief press conference held at her Ridge residence in Accra, the family head, Oheneba Lovelace Prempeh, said that details regarding her burial and final rites will be communicated by the President at the appropriate time.

He further revealed that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has been duly informed of the passing of the wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings. “The family has informed His Excellency the President, who, in turn, caused a statement to be issued confirming Nana Konadu’s death. At this stage, we are in deep mourning and respectfully ask for privacy. All further announcements will be made by the government,” he stated.

Mrs. Rawlings, aged 76, reportedly passed away on Thursday morning after a short illness, leaving behind a remarkable legacy as Ghana’s first female presidential candidate and a leading advocate for women’s empowerment.
