Maxwell Kofi Jumah, former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, has been taken into custody by national security operatives in Kumasi, intensifying an ongoing probe into alleged misconduct during his tenure.

The arrest took place on Sunday, June 29, following a formal request for a meeting issued by the operatives. Jumah was reportedly transported in a pickup vehicle to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, where he remains in detention as investigations continue.

This development follows an earlier security operation conducted on May 15, during which authorities attempted to retrieve state-owned vehicles allegedly in his possession. Jumah was not present at the time of that operation.

Sources familiar with the case indicate that the former GIHOC boss is now under scrutiny for alleged financial mismanagement, including the unauthorised sale of state assets and irregular vehicle acquisitions.

The investigation is expected to broaden as authorities seek to uncover the full extent of the alleged improprieties during his leadership at the state-owned distillery company.
