AdubianewsThe Ga Traditional Council has summoned 15 churches, including Calvary Baptist and Lighthouse Chapel, for violating the annual ban on drumming and noise-making, which began on May 12 and ends June 12, 2025. The ban is part of the traditional rites leading to the Homowo Festival.
Offenses include loud worship, clapping, and roadside preaching—all prohibited during this period. Some churches reportedly refused to accept the summons. Affected churches are expected to appear before the Council on May 22.
The Council’s task force has already seized musical equipment from churches that defied the directive. Social media reactions are mixed, with some defending tradition and others calling for dialogue.
The ban aims to maintain peace and spiritual reflection ahead of the festival. Authorities have warned of legal action against defaulters.
