The Minority’s spokesperson on Foreign Affairs Okudzeto Ablakwa, has congratulated Ghana and Gabon on their election at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly to serve as non-permanent members of the Security Council for the 2022-2023 term.
Mr. Ablakwa who is also the MP for North Tongu indicated that ”…it is the expectation of many that greater strides will be made for fairer UN institutional reforms”.
He admonished the two countries to work towards a coordinated effort in containing and defeating violent extremism in Africa.

Congratulations to Ghana and Gabon on their election at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly to serve as non-permanent members of the Security Council for the 2022-2023 term.
As both countries prepare to take over from Niger and Tunisia who have been representing the African Group on the Security Council, it is the expectation of many that greater strides will be made for fairer UN institutional reforms and for a more coordinated effort in containing and defeating violent extremism in Africa.
The pandemic, vaccine nationalism, global poverty and inequality, terrorism, climate change, human trafficking, transnational crime and many other international challenges only but affirm the indispensability of multilateralism and effective global partnerships.
