The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued an alert of localised thunderstorms and rainfall expected later today across several parts of the country.

In its 24-hour forecast released Thursday morning, the agency highlighted that areas likely to be affected include Accra, Kasoa, Kumasi, Obuasi, Tarkwa, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim, and Sefwi Bekwai.

According to GMet, the day began with mist and fog patches over coastal, forest, and hilly zones, temporarily reducing visibility for early commuters. These conditions are expected to clear as the morning progresses.

National weather is projected to remain sunny by mid-morning, but the stability will be short-lived. GMet warns that unstable atmospheric conditions will develop in the afternoon, triggering thunderstorms or rain across the coastal belt, the middle zone, and the transition areas. These weather activities may persist into the evening.

Meanwhile, Northern Ghana is forecast to remain fairly dry and slightly hazy, with cooler nighttime and early morning temperatures reported over the upper regions. The agency also cautions that sea conditions will stay rough, urging coastal communities and maritime operators to remain vigilant.
