AdubianewsThe Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, will on Thursday, August 28, meet the media to address some of the pressing challenges facing Ghana’s capital city.
The engagement, scheduled for 10 am, will also bring together all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region.
According to officials, the session is expected to outline coordinated strategies to restore order in Accra and improve the quality of life for residents.
Among the key issues on the agenda is the rising encroachment of unauthorised settlements, which authorities say undermine urban planning and expose communities to disasters such as flooding.
The Minister is expected to announce upcoming demolitions to clear these settlements, stressing that due process will be followed for affected persons.
Security will also feature prominently, with plans to fix and maintain streetlights across the region in a bid to reduce criminal activity and improve public safety.
Sanitation, one of Accra’s longest-standing challenges, will be another focus area, with discussions expected on waste management, public health, and strict enforcement of sanitation bylaws.
The engagement will provide a roadmap for coordinated action by the Regional Coordinating Council and the MMDCEs. It will also offer the media an opportunity to raise questions and seek clarity on government interventions aimed at making Accra a cleaner, safer, and more livable city.
