Coffins of helicopter crash victims arrive in Accra for burial

The remains of all eight individuals who perished in the tragic Z-9 military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, have been transported to Accra and deposited at the 37 Military Hospital as burial arrangements begin.

The bodies, which were recovered from the crash site near Sikaman in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, were flown to the capital aboard a Ghana Air Force Casa aircraft on the night of the incident.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, along with other high-ranking government officials and military dignitaries, received the coffins at the Air Force Base. Prayers were solemnly offered by members of the clergy during the arrival ceremony.

An official investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fatal crash that shook the nation and claimed the lives of top government officials and military personnel.

The nation continues to mourn the loss of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, NDC Vice-Chair Samuel Sarpong, former MP Samuel Aboagye, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, and three Air Force officers: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
