The former deputy defence Minister Major (rtd) Derrick Oduro has shot down claims that he was dropped from the list of new appointees because of his poor performance in the first term of President Akufo-Addo.
The former Nkoranza North MP speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm posited that he was not the only MP and ministerial appointee who lost his seat and his job as a minister.
According to him, he distinguished himself as a former deputy minister and served his nation as required of him.
He explained that the constitution mandates the President to appoint the majority of his ministers from parliament and he is no longer in parliament hence it is not surprising that he could not get an appointment.
“You are aware that several ministries were scrapped and left with only a few. Even those in parliament are more than the appointments. So why should those outside parliament be demanding appointments? It is neither here nor there. The NPP has a policy and the party cannot circumvent its policy because of me. I distinguished myself well as a deputy minister. If I had not performed well, the media would not be calling me to speak on security issues”.
