Seventeen police officers have received accelerated promotions following their involvement in high-impact security operations that disrupted drug trafficking and illegal arms circulation, the Ghana Police Service has announced.
The promotions, approved by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno on January 27, were awarded to officers whose professionalism and operational effectiveness led to significant law enforcement breakthroughs in separate operations across the country.
Among the successes cited was the interception of ten wrapped slabs of substances suspected to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of GH¢1,032,650.00, along with several sacks of suspected narcotic drugs in the Volta Region.

In a separate routine patrol operation at Jacobu, officers also recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action shotgun, and eight rounds of live AAA ammunition, further underscoring the impact of proactive policing.
Congratulating the officers, IGP Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), praised them for demonstrating discipline, courage, and professionalism — values he described as central to the identity of the Ghana Police Service.
He reminded the promoted officers that their elevation comes with greater responsibility and expectations, urging them to remain committed to ethical conduct and operational excellence.

The IGP further encouraged all personnel of the Service to remain diligent in their duties, assuring them that merit, integrity, and dedication continue to form the foundation for recognition and career advancement within the Ghana Police Service.
