The National Communications Officer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has said it is not a novelty for Ghana to have tested 1,154 cases of Coronavirus.
He said the case of the government that it has traced Eight -Six Thousand contacts would not have arisen if there have not been inactions on the part of the government.
According to him, Ghana was sloppy for ten days by allowing people to enter the country without any checks on them.
He said instead of the country taking steps and measures to fight disease since the first recorded case of the pandemic, the government kept its borders open for more people infected with the disease to come inn.
He said all these people who came without any proper checks conducted on them infected their communities with the disease.
He added that many of the people who came in when ‘our borders were supposed to be closed to the other worlds were asymptomatic.
The NDC’s National Communications Officer pooh-poohed the claims by the National COVID-19 Response Team that it has chalked some successes by testing more people in the fight against the pandemic on Accra-based Metro TV’s morning show dubbed ‘Good Morning Ghana’ hosted by Randy Abbey.
‘You could conduct more tests which do not mean that Ghana was doing anything better in the management of the containment of the spread of the COVID-19′ he added.
He said major countries which disrespected the COVID -19 pandemic has been brought down.
‘If you disrespect the deadly Coronavirus pandemic you will laugh at the wrong side of mouth and countries like the United States of America and Spain are laughing at the wrong side of their mouth today.
He stressed that the government instead of swiftly taking actions since the country recorded its first case, the president went globe-trotting instead, of staying at home to monitor the situation.
