Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng has described as difficult, the challenges government officials go through to effect change in society.
According to him, it’s not easy working for the ungrateful and ignorant because they never want to accept change and appreciate what is being done for them.
In an interview monitored by Adwoa Adubia News, Prof. Frimpong Boateng said due to the backlash and unfounded accusations against them which makes their work difficult, most of them disclose that Ghana is not worth dying for.
Prof. Frimpong Boateng who was the Chairperson for the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) was accused of playing a role in the mysterious disappearance of some seized excavators.
Due to that, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a section of the populace, called for his arrest and prosecution which led to his removal as Chairman of the IMCIM.
But appearing on the KSM show, Prof Frimpong Boateng said he will accept to chair the fight against illegal mining activities if given the opportunity again because he’s got a clear conscience and is innocent of the accusations against him.
According to him, even Jesus Christ was accused of several charges which subsequently led to his death so, in life, good people always face such things.
He was further quizzed as to whether the country is worth dying for because of the tribulations people go through to put things right.
“Ghana is not worth dying for but it is precisely that reason that you should die for Ghana. Because it is not easy working for the ignorant and the ungrateful and so we have to be aware of that. Something outside you should motivate you to work for our countrymen. Because people are ungrateful and ignorant but that should not deter you. We are not worth dying for but it is for that reason that shows you’re sacrificing.”
According to him, “I’m not expecting anything in return from Ghana, everything that I have done I think about Ghana. I could have built a cardio centre for myself, done so many things for myself but I didn’t. I’ll continue to do that (good) and hope my deeds will be acceptable to God.”
