At Jinijini Senior High School in the Berekum West district of the Bono region, two male final-year students sitting for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) have reportedly received a spiritual directive from their pastor.
The pastor allegedly instructed the students to shave off all their hair, a practice locally known as ‘sakora’ in Ghana, claiming it was a divine direction to ensure their success in the examination.
The two Visual Arts students complied with the pastor’s directive, expressing faith that they would pass all their papers as a result of submitting to the spiritual direction.
One of the students, Emmanuel, in an interview with OnuaOnline, expressed confidence in emerging victorious from the examination, attributing his optimism to complying with the spiritual directive.

“As a final-year student, I’ve shaved my head following my pastor’s direction to pass my exams. Insha Allah, I’ll succeed. We’re combining spiritual guidance with our teachers’ instructions, and I’m confident we’ll pass,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Itinerary Examiner for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Dorcas Owusuaa Otu, who was assigned to observe the Ceramics and Jewelry practicals taken on Tuesday, shared that the process had been successful so far.
She expressed optimism about the successful conduct of the exams.
Meanwhile, Henrietta Asuman, Headmistress of Jinijini SHS, is confident that her students will perform well in the exam, given the preparations they received prior to the exercise.
