Highly Spiritual Music CEO, Kaywa, has recounted a past controversy involving rapper Sarkodie that led to unexpected backlash from traditional leaders in Krobo. The issue stemmed from Sarkodie’s verse in the hit song Jennifer Lomotey, which referenced a widely disputed myth about women from the Krobo area.

In the song, Sarkodie made mention of a curse allegedly placed on Krobo women by the historical figure Okomfo Anokye, a claim tied to an old folklore narrative. The line sparked outrage among Krobo chiefs, who found it offensive and demanded the immediate removal of the song or at least the deletion of that particular line.

By the time the protest reached the public, the song had already gained massive popularity and was trending across the country. Pulling it down or altering the lyrics proved difficult, as it had been widely distributed and embraced by fans.

To address the situation and calm tensions, Kaywa had to turn to his artist, Kurl Songx, who was featured on the track, to publicly speak on the matter. Kurl Songx dismissed the controversial interpretation of the lyrics and clarified that the song was never intended to demean Krobo women, hoping to ease the backlash from the traditional authorities.
